Our customers ask all the time what exterior paint colors they should choose. And the answer is - it depends on a few things:
For example, we live and service the Chicago suburbs. Grayish beige is not only a safe bet, but it also looks great on many styles of homes.
Although you might not think it right away - gray looks beautiful with brick homes.
And I'm sure you've noticed too - some neighborhoods are very conservative. So take that into consideration. If everyone on your block has muted colors, you may want to pass on that purple you love!
Take a leisurely drive around two of our favorite areas - Oak Park and La Grange. You'll see lots of different color choices. We've noticed warm colors that compliment the surroundings. HGTV also has some great articles on colors. You can also get unusual ideas from nature. Look at different birds and the colors of their wings. You'll see gray, brown, taupe. All these colors look inviting.
Make sure you don't fall in love with a set of colors only to find out they don't compliment your roof. When you're looking for examples - look at homes with the same roof color as you have. Here are some ground rules:
Make sure you take a look at your entire area including brick and rock work, trees, and scrubs along with the roof. The colors you pick should both blend and compliment.
